Centrifuges,as efficient separation equipment, are widely used in various industrial fields. Its core working principle is based on centrifugal force.Through the combination of different working processes,it can realize the accurate separation of various suspensions, lotion and mixtures.Zhongyi Chinese centrifuge manufacturer will provide a detailed introduction to the three main working processes of the centrifuge:
1、Centrifuge filtration process
It is often used to separate suspensions with high solid content and larger particle size.Like a filter centrifuge, there are many small holes on its drum, and the drum wall is lined with a metal bottom mesh and filter cloth. When the drum rotates at high speed, the suspension is thrown onto the filter cloth due to centrifugal force inside the drum, and the solid particles inside are filtered and accumulated on the filter cloth to form a filter residue layer. The filtrate is then thrown out of the drum through the gaps in the filter residue, filter cloth, and small holes on the drum wall.As the process continues, the filter residue layer is gradually compressed under the action of centrifugal force, while the liquid in the gap of the filter residue continues to be discharged from the drum until only trace amounts of liquid that cannot be separated are left due to the capillary action in the filter residue; This process is called the dehydration process.Centrifugal filtration not only has a strong driving force, but also can obtain drier filter residue than general gravity or vacuum filtration, but it is not suitable for materials with sticky filter cloth.
2、Centrifugal settling process
It is commonly used to separate suspensions with less solid content and finer particle size. There are no holes or filter cloths on the wall of the centrifuge drum. When the suspension rotates at high speed with the drum, due to the centrifugal force, the materials in the suspension are layered and precipitated according to the size of the gravity. The heavy solid precipitates in the outermost layer, while the liquid is in the inner layer. It is discharged from the drum using a drainage device. Both centrifugal filtration and centrifugal settling must consider the issue of clearance or continuous slag discharge.
3、Centrifuge separation process
It is used to separate emulsions formed by two liquids with different densities,or emulsions containing extremely small amounts of solids,or to clarify the liquid phase containing extremely small amounts of solids(liquid-liquid,liquid-solid).The operating principle of these three situations is the same as centrifugal settling. Its drum also does not have holes, and the emulsion is divided into two or three layers according to its weight under the action of centrifugal force. The heavy liquid is in the outer layer, the light liquid is in the inner layer, and trace amounts of solid matter are deposited on the drum wall. For liquid phase stratified substances, they can be separately led out of the drum through certain devices; For solid-phase sediments, they are discharged using intermittent or continuous methods.Centrifuges that apply this separation process are commonly referred to as separators.
